News and Reminders for Monday, June 30 Week 3

TOMORROW is Sham-Rock-Stock: Everyone should wear green tomorrow.

WEDNESDAY is Pie and Pastry!!! Campers will have the opportunity to get messy and enjoy tasty pies and pastries. PLEASE send your child to camp with a change of clothes or a bathing suit as tomorrow will be messy! We ask parents to park and walk up to the circle to pick up their camper(s).

THURSDAY is 4th on the 3rd: We will be celebrating the 4th of July with a parade. Campers are encouraged to bring bikes and scooters. Please bring patriotic decorations for the bikes, cars, etc for the parade. The parade will start at 1:10pm and parents are more than welcome to watch the festivities.

FRIDAY will have NO CAMP: Happy 4th of July!

REMINDERS:
-Specialty Camps should meet everyday in the Upper School Gym.
-There will be a Mac Inc. Fun Day at Jolly Roger Amusement Park on Saturday, July 19, 2008 from 10am to 7pm. Tickets for this are $25 each. For further information, call 410-742-0505 ext. 113
-Save the Date: July 25th for the Camp Odyssey Shorebirds Night. For tickets, call or e-mail Donna at donna@campodyssey.org.
-Please send your camper to camp with plenty of water to drink, or a refillable water bottle to use throughout the hot summer days.
-CHEWING GUM is NOT allowed at camp. PLEASE do NOT allow your camper(s) to bring and/or chew gum while at camp.
-No campers should bring lunches that require use of microwaves or stoves.
-No campers should wear open-toed shoes, including flip-flops or crocs.
-Campers should not be bringing cell phones to camp. If they need to call someone in the case of an emergency they can use a camp phone.

Camp is in need of the following supplies, if anyone could donate any of the following items it would be greatly appreciated:
1. Horizons needs books to fill its new library. These students in Horizons need any encouragement they can get to stay focused on learning and the new library is an important part of encouraging productive summer reading. Books should be appropriate for Kindergarten – 9th grade students. Please bring any book donations to the Horizons office in the Middle School Building.
2. Color T.V. new or used. Old game systems or video games.
3. Costumes, unique clothing, and props for dramas or special theme days. (goofier the better!!!)
4. Plastic or inflatable wading pools, pool or beach toys
5. Outer space materials
6. Containers, Tupperware, or plastic bowls to hold jello and pudding
7. Clip boards and office supplies (note pads, markers, binders)
8. Paints
9. 1/2 gallon cartons of milk
10. Toilet paper rolls/paper towel rolls
11. Empty or full Kleenex boxes
12. Pasta (boxed) and tomato sauce for pasta and tomato smash
13. pastries for pie and pastry day

News and Reminders for Monday, June 23 Week 2

· TOMORROW is Slime-A-Palooza: Campers will have the opportunity to get messy with slime during the special activity period. Parents please SEND your child with a bathing suit and/or change of clothes and a towel to participate in the activities!!
· WEDNESDAY is Willy Wonka Day!!! The campers will be able to experience all of the magic of Willy Wonka during special activity time. They will get to enjoy fizzy drinks and a bubble room!
· THURSDAY is Jurassic Park Day: Prepare for the dinosaurs and other fantastic characters from Jurassic Park!
· THURSDAY is also the Marlins and Dolphins (Grade 3-6) Classic Camp Overnight: Sign-up for this overnight closes Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. so do not miss it! This is a classic camp event so prepare for a night filled with tons of fun!
· FRIDAY is the Medieval Festival!!! Campers will have the opportunity to experience adventures from the medieval times. Campers will be able to dress and act like people from the medieval times and create incredible inventions.

· REMINDERS:
o Once again, for Campers going to the Marlins and Dolphins (Grade 3-6) Classic Camp Overnight on Thursday, do not forget to sign up before Wednesday at 9:00 A.M.

Camp Odyssey News and Reminders For the Rest of Week 1

· WEDNESDAY was Tye-Dye Day!!! When washing the tie-die shirts for the first time, use only warm water and WASH ALONE.

· THURSDAY is Snow Day: Campers will have the opportunity to create their own snowmen out of marshmallows, create their own snowflake, and much more snow day fun activities.

· FRIDAY is Wetacular Water Play Day!!! BE READY for a fun day of water games and getting wet!! Parents please SEND your child with a bathing suit and/or change of clothes and a towel to participate in the activities!! There will be a water gun battle with the campers and staff. Campers may bring in a water gun but need to have their name on the water gun. The water guns will be collected at the entrance of the tunnel. Camp is NOT responsible for LOST or BROKEN water guns. Campers will be able to go down a waterslide, and slide on their stomachs across a slip ‘N slide.

Welcome to Camp Odyssey 2008!!!

Camp starts this week and we are SO EXCITED!! This is the moment our team has been waiting for: to greet you at “Opening” with smiles, laughter and fun! Have questions? Need information? We are ready to serve. Just look for me (look for a crazy hat!), Donna (our Registrar), King Jeff (our Day Camp Director), our Assistant Erin McAfee (our Odyssey Academy Director) or any staff member – we will be glad to help.

There is still time to register: spaces are still available most weeks of Day Camp and in many specialty and Academy Camps. We look forward to seeing you VERY soon!

All the News You Need: Camp Odyssey Parent Packet

The COPP is online! Click here and you can peruse the info on your computer screen or download a version that's easy to print. It contains the “Dos” the “Don’ts” and all the basics of Camp Odyssey, including Specialty Camps and Odyssey Academy.

Who Doesn’t Need a Snack Once in a While?

The CO store, known as Z-Snack Shack, will offer cold water and juice, snacks such as cookies, cereal bars, pretzels and more; and camp merchandise (including t-shirts, hats, sunscreen and other fun items) to campers and family members. Look for Z-Snack Shack in the camp office from 3:00-3:30 p.m. each day.

Tee Up for Horizons!


The Sunrise chapter of the Salisbury Rotary Club hosts a golf tournament each summer to raise funds for a local charity – and this year Horizons is the recipient! We thank Sunrise Rotary for thinking of us!

CAMP SPOTLIGHT: Odyssey at the Shorebirds – JULY 25

The CO Scholarship Fund helps dozens of deserving kids attend camp at a discount or free of charge. To help so many kids, we find creative ways to raise money – and none is more fun or important than our annual Camp Odyssey Night at the Shorebirds Silent Auction. Tickets to the game are free through camp (just ask Donna) and we auction off more than 50 items. All money raised goes to the fund. Come out and join the fun on July 25!

Camp Odyssey & Clear Channel Radio Muddy the Airwaves


Join us on Friday, July 18 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. for our annual MUD MADNESS DAY! This year Sandi Alexander and the team at Clear Channel Radio will be on hand with a live remote and lots of fun. It is an annual festival you – and your washing machine – will not soon forget!

News and Reminders for Monday, June 16 Week 1

· TOMORROW (TUESDAY) is Top Hat N Tie Day: Campers will be creating their own bow tie at opening and during group time will be given a chance to make it their own by using different colors to fill it in.

· WEDNESDAY is Tye-Dye Day!!! Don’t forget to bring a T-shirt to Tye-Dye. Please bring a 100% Cotton White T-shirt to be tye-dyed. The camper’s full name and group they are in needs to be written near the collar of the shirt or tag in permanent marker. Also the campers need to have a zip lock bag, with his/her full name and group on it, to put the T-shirt in after it is tye-dyed. There will also be fun field day activities taking place for the campers to do while waiting to dye their T-shirt.
