Dear Camp Odyssey Parents,
This Week: Each day is a different day of fun, and we want you to be ready for each one. Here’s what’s going on this week at Camp Odyssey:
• Tuesday is ¡Siempre Una Fiesta! We’re going to have pinatas, festive foods and lots of fun! Campers may wear anything Latin; from Spanish sombreros and Flamenca dresses to Mexican Ponchos and zarapes (serapes)!
• Wednesday is Roman Toga Jam. Campers may participate in “chariot races” and “gladiator battles” or give speeches at the Roman forum. Campers who want to get in the spirit should wear togas over top of clothes and a laurel wreath upon the head, Roman senator style!
• Thursday is Reggae Day. As we have a celebration of the culture and influence of Reggae music (with lots of Bob Marley), campers should wear rasta colors (black, red, yellow and green), dreadlock wigs and a big island smile!
• Thursday Night is the All Camp Overnight (One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Marlins, and Dolphins). Registration must be compleed by Wednesday (July 14th), by 9:00 am. More information will be given in a separate handout.
• Friday is Australian Beach & Pool Day. Today is a trip day, with Setting Sail going to the MOVIES, while the rest of the camp groups travel to Jolly Roger. Have a swimsuit, sun block, goggles if needed, and please bring a towel and a change of clothes.
Reminders: Here are some other things going on at Camp Odyssey that you might find helpful or interesting:
• Please pack a snack for your child to eat at group time since we burn lots of calories during the day. We also encourage you to send water/drinks with your child to keep them hydrated throughout the day. We have water fountains throughout the camp for them to use as well.
• Campers should not wear any flip flops, crocs, heelies, or any type of open-toed shoes while at camp due to outdoor studios and special activities. Only on certain special activity days will campers be allowed to bring an extra pair of open-toed shoes to change into (this will be specifically stated in a newsletter).
• When considering what to do about your child’s snack, don’t forget about the Camp Store, the Z-Snack Shack! With great prices for everyday snacks and drinks, the Z-Snack Shack is open at lunch and After-Camp, so be sure to send a few extra dollars for that.
• Stay on top of the Camp happenings and news updates by checking the “news” section of our website (campodyssey.org) daily and also by “liking” us on Facebook. We will post frequent updates to both so you can find out the up-to-the-minute details for what is going on at Camp Odyssey!
Needs: We would greatly appreciate it if you have any of the following items and would be willing to donate them for our zany special activities. Your trash could be our treasure!
• Games: Go Fish, Trouble, Checkers, any Math related games, and puzzles
• Large white bed sheets
• Newspapers, 2-liter bottles, and cardboard tube for an upcoming Art projects in Art 101
Thanks for your cooperation!
